We in turn see their collaborative take on the iconic sneaker optioned in adult, grade school, and infant sizes. FUBU and PUMA also present a men’s T7 Track Jacket and Pants, as well as a collaborative T-shirt. PUMA has released a new take on the Tsugi Jun sneaker as part of the footwear brand’s ongoing collaboration with OG streetwear staple FUBU. For many, the famous red color from the For Us By Us brand is instantly recognizable, and further distinguished with large “FUBU” lettering at the heel strap. The sneaker’s silhouette, however, maintains its technical details via the Tsugi Jun’s knitted uppers and satin lateral lacing system. The collaborative sneaker will be launched alongside a matching graphic T-shirt.

It is common knowledge that the hip-hop/streeetwear style really took off in the 1990s, especially with the growth of rap music and boy bands. FUBU may not ring a bell for most people today but it was a 90’s heavyweight hip-hop apparel brand, dressing A-list celebrities such as N’SYNC, P. Diddy and LL Cool J. With such an important role in the history of streetwear, it is only fitting that PUMA has chosen to team up with FUBU to release a capsule collection that pays tribute to their iconic streetwear roots as part of the Suede’s 50th anniversary.

Before popular hip-hop influenced clothing brands like Rocawear, Enyce, P.Miller, and Sean John, there was FUBU. The company burst onto the hip-hop scene in 1992, and paved the way for the urban clothing lines that would come after. On March 24, 1989, Daymond John, who had just turned 20, hit the streets of Queens, New York and began selling his hand-sewn wool beanies with a string knotted on top. According to The Washington Post, John made $800 within the first hour and a half of selling his homemade hats outside to pedestrians on the sidewalk.
